Feeling on top of the world because you just booked a spring break in some delicious sunny country? Have you then realised it seems to be your job to shop and pack for the whole family – I mean, why can’t our partners at least pack their own? Argg. It can darken the mood a little.

But, there’s no need to be blue! Don’t forget, you’ll be spending a week or two on a toasty beach, with the sun on your skin and anyway, Peacocks is here to help! Read our guide to packing for the whole family and you’ll be ready in a flash!

STEP ONE

Tell your partner to pack their own suitcase. You didn’t think we were going encourage that kind of behaviour did you? Not on your life!

STEP TWO

Make a list for yourself and each of the kids. Everyone loves a good list.

We won’t write everything that you need for a holiday here, as we know you’ve been on one before. For a reminder of the basics though, this is a list of essentials that we invariably forget one or more of. Everyone will need an assortment of the below:

    • Flip flops
    • Evening sandals
    • Pyjamas
    • Underwear
    • Swimsuits
    • Shorts
    • Daytime tees/ vests
    • Sarongs
    • Sunglasses
    • Beach towel
    • Toothbrush
    • Hairbrush
    • Eveningwear
    • Phone chargers
    • Makeup and other toiletries
    • Sun cream
    • Hats
    • Medicines, anti-histamines, pain killers and bug spray
    • A jacket and jeans for the trip to the airport
    • Toys, colours and paper, and a blanket for the plane

Here are some of our fave new-season pieces for an SS17 holiday – treating yourself definitely counts as fast packing right? That way you don’t have to find that pair of sandals that have been missing since last year!

Step Three

Plan when each stage will be completed. You’ll want to have everything washed two days before setting off at the latest. Everything should be gathered, whether hanging or laid out the day before.

Pack around 12 hours before you fly to ensure minimum clothes creasing and you might even choose to separate the kids’ clothes into plastic bags for each day – that way you’ll have a system they can’t spoil while you’re away.

You can let them help with packing though. Ask them to pick a book to read, or their favourite toy and a pair of shorts. This will keep them busy in their excitement!

Step Four

Make sure you have passports, keys, phones, purses and tickets, as well as basics like nappies and face wipes in your carry-on an hour before you go.

Step Five

Check everything off your list…

Step Six

Then check it again. As we said before, everyone forgets something when they go away (it’s not just us is it?)
