Ethical Sourcing Policy

The Peacocks Stores' Ethical Sourcing Policy sets out the requirements of business conduct, which is fundamental in our dealings with our suppliers, agents, the manufacturing units, third parties and contractors and the way in which they in turn deal with their employees.

We recognize that within some countries there are legal and cultural differences from our own but all factories and places of work must meet the following universal standards.

Employment Conditions

Peacocks Stores have a strict code regarding non-acceptable employment conditions:

- The use of child labour is not acceptable. Employees in all manufacturing units, including sub-contractors must meet the minimum legal working age and must not be less than 14 years of age, whichever is greater.
- The use of forced labour or involuntary labour of any kind is not acceptable.
- The exploitation of any individual or group is not acceptable.
- The use of any form of physical abuse to coerce or punish workers is not acceptable. Additionally the use of non-physical abuse such as the threat of violence, sexual harassment or verbal abuse is also not acceptable.
- Discrimination against a person or group as a result of race, colour, gender, nationality, religion, age, maternity or marital status is not acceptable.
- Workers must be allowed to lawfully join or organize associations (as long as such organizations are legal in their own country) and employers must not penalize or interfere with the workers lawful efforts to do so.
- Suppliers must ensure that all working premises comply with all applicable laws regarding working conditions, worker health and safety, fire safety, risk protection, sanitation, electrical and structural safety.
- Working hours / days, wages, overtime pay and holiday pay must be in compliance with all local laws and must meet the legal minimum wage or a wage that meet local industry standards, whichever is greater.
- Any disciplinary procedures taken by the supplier must be fair towards the employee and documented for future reference.
- Suppliers are encouraged to promote training and education for their employees to ensure a greater understanding of their jobs and safety within their working environment.

In order for the group to ensure that all suppliers are complying with the policy, at times we may request the following:

- Full factory details, including location, which must be readily available to the relevant Buyer/Technologist on request.
- The supplier must disclose to the Peacocks Stores Buying Team all circumstances, facts and information concerning production, including the identity, place of manufacture and use of all sub-contractors or any other third parties.
- That all parties, by appointment and without prior announcement, permit at all reasonable times, access to all production facilities by Peacocks Stores employees, or appointed agents, for the purpose of ensuring compliance with this Policy.
